    Talking Homemade protein bars

2 cups NATURAL peanut butter(1 hole container/16 ounces)
    6 tablespoons honey
    2 1/4 protein powder(any kind will work)
    2 cups dry uncooked oatmeal

combine the peanut butter and honey in a mixing bowl and stir

Microwave for 70 seconds( or longer). Add the protein powder and oatmael, mix well

Smoosh until flat into a 13x9 pan Let set to cool then cut into 12 even bars and wrap in plastic and refridgerate
I add more honey so that it will stick together better.

    Nutritional facts
    Serving size 1 bar
19 good for you grams of fat. (Essential Fatty Acids)
    22 grams of Delicious Carbs
    around 21 grams of protein

They remind me of a drop cookie or no bake cookie BUT dryer. You will want to have something to drink with it which is also good!

    Thumbs up

Cool, thanks Charger. I've been looking for a way to make my own protein bars.

I think I will try those with a fine bottle of chanti.

I tried making these before. The "combine the peanut butter and honey" instruction is not as easy as it sounds. Its a work out in itself.

Oldman, are you heating the honey and NATURAL peanut butter? I have never had problems mixing, now if I didn't add extra honey I have had problems with them being too dry and falling apart.

Yep, periodically microwaved the mix to soften it up. Still a pain in the ass.

What's more, those 19gms of fat from peanut butter are anything but good. That's almost a 1:1 protein:fat ratio.... Not good at all.

Yep, I used natural peanut butter and natural honey too.

The workout making them isn't the real problem. The real problem is the protein:fat ratio. Instead of being close to 1:1 it should be much closer to 10:1, 10gms protein to 1gms fat.

    Question

Earwax, what do you think? There a pain to make I admit but the taste and price is right I think. Let me know what you think and be honest.

Well to be honest, I didn't use the natural peanut butter, but I used everything else. They tasted great. So great in fact (with Designer Whey) that I ate it all in 3 days. They seemed to stay together great after I put them in the little fridge I have in my room. Next time, I will try the natural peanut butter and not eat too many of those things in one week. I think it backed my movements (if ya know what I mean) up a bit. All in all, I enjoyed the experience. Thanks Charger. Let me know if you come up with some other easy receipes.
