    Question fat loss..without muscle loss?

I weigh about 200 lbs, and im trying to cut my body fat levels. how much protein should i be taking in daily on a calorie restricted diet, if i hope to maintain most of my muscle mass? is it ok to supplement with multiple protein shakes daily? are shakes as effective as protein rich foods?

    thanks for the help!!

Eat healthy, six times a day, up your cardio, you will not lose much mass if any at all. Most people have a " I will lose my mass " phobia

Uh...ya do lose mass....fat and water is mass too. Even on anabolic steroids you can lose a grip of muscle when dieting over a long period of time.

    To the thread starter....

To try and keep as much LBM as possible while cutting...the trick is to do it slowly....1% of ur bodyweight per week is what you want to be losing....maybe a couple pounds a week. Keep protein up and meal frequency up and don't cut cals too quickly....cut them gradually until you start to lose the desired 1-2 pounds a week.

You still want to keep ur protein over 200 grams a day. Protein shakes all day to achieve this is not good though...get most of ur protein from real food....grilled fish/chicken/lean red meats/etc....get ur carbs from sweet potatoes/real oatmeal/brown rice/etc. I try to keep my shakes to 1 a day and it's PWO, when it's the most beneficial.

Anabolic Diet, I will be doing it this summer and seeing how I had great results when I did it for a short period I expect to get at 10% by end of August.

Cardio is the name of the game but make sure you aren't starving yourself, personally I get paranoid when I start feeling hungry but good luck.

I highly recommend the Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle system by Tom Venuto. I have a review of it here
