i am trying a bulking a diet and i am having trouble getting in near 3,000 calories a day. i know i have to eat every 3 hours but i just cant get 3,000 in with only 5 meals a day could i eat every 2 hrs to 2 and a half hours? or would that store fat? or should i just eat like a mad man every meal? i signed up for fitday.com and iv been taking in 2,600 calories a day and im 6'1 175 lbs. is that too little?
You are bulking for a reason and thats to get big without the worries of gaining a little bit of pudge. You need to decide 100% do you want to bulk or not? If everyone could put on 15lbs of solid muscle without gaining an inch of fat anywhere they would. So dont worry about gaining a little bit of blubber. In my opinion, whenever bulking you still need to eat the good foods like chicken, veggies, and things of that sort just more of those kinds of foods. Brownies and chocolate chip cookies are not for bulking they are for pigging out.
I don't know how healthy you are trying to eat, but 3,000 calories isn't hard to eat at all. A single Chipotle burrito with chicken, guac, sour cream, cheese, salsa, beans, and the wrap has over 2,000 calories. Not the healthiest thing, but if your bulking, who cares.

You can eat more frequently than 'every three hours' - it is not going to be what determines your fat gain... Things like:
- total calorie intake
- genetics
- age
- training
- hormone status
etc etc... These are the things that are going to be important in determining fat gains.
And no one can tell you whether or not how much you are eating is enough - you have to work that out based on what you need (determined by your genetics, lean mass, activity level, hormone status etc etc).
So if you are currently eating at ~2600 cals/day and you are not gaining weight, increase the cals by 10% (250 cals) and wait for 1-2 weeks. If you still have not gained weight, repeat the increase and wait again. Continue until you see solid gains.
