today at work , my boss, an ex marine, tryed telling me that a high protein / lo carb diet is : 1. bad for you chemical balance, and you brain. 2. will make you fat in the long run because your body learns to turn protien into fat. she says that she was told by jenny craig that your body can tun protien into fat.
Protein isn't magic. You can't just eat as much as you want and expect to stay thin just because your carbs and fats are low. If you are taking in a surplus amount of calories, you will put on body fat.
Let's all join together and SPEAK ENGLISH IN AMERICA.
Protein is converted to Glucose not fat via Gluconeogenesis.
Also what musclepump stated. You can't just eat what as much protein as you want. If you are eating an excess amount of calories expect to put on some weight.
I am not a big fan of the low-carb diet. However they many be useful for short periods of time. The Brain needs glucose to function properly.
Any time you eat a HUGE meal it would turn into fat. Doesn't matter if you if you just ate a crap load of lettuce- it'll turn in to fat if you eat to much of it.
Not sure about the rest of what she said, changes in chemical balance sounds like it makes sense but who knows. Just eat 40/40 protien and carbs and the rest fruits and greens.
that's true .. fats are the main source of energy for the body, then carbohydrates are the second source when working on higher heart rate..... the body may use protein as a source of energy if fails to get these two sources ...... if u eat ~ 1 gram per lb of your body weight from protein while you are on strength training , the body will use protein you eat for repairing and building muscles and will go to your fat stores to get it's energy.....(theoritically)
also protein has a thermic effect on the body , that's why it won't be easily trasferred into fats , but ofcourse it's possible if you eat more than you consume ...whatever if what you eat is fats or carbs or protein the main goal when you are trying to lose fat is to burn more calories than you consume.....

Fats are not the main source of energy in our body. Carbs are.
