    late night training and food

due to my schedule i may have to workout after work which would make me train at around 9:30-10:30 at night. i usually have a shake that contains whey and dextrose and then i eat a banana with it....what should i have for a pre bed meal if i were to train so late? whould it stay the same? as of now im doing 1 scoop whey with 1 scoop casien protein. 16 ounces of skim milk and 3 fish oil caps. does would this suffice or should i change it up?

Keep your protein, fats and fruit but skip the dextrose and add oats instead.

I hope you guys don't mind me asking a similar question here. My gym training usually ends around 9:30pm on the weekdays and I immediately take a PWO shake afterwards. That should be good for about an hour. Come 10:30pm, would I be better off having one final meal (eggs, brown rice, veggies) and then casein+PB two hours later (my bedtime protein), or skip the final meal and have casein+PB+oats and have sleep early? I get up 6:30am weekday mornings for work. Thanks.

I have this same question. In the past, when I can't stay up extra late to cram in those last two meals, I will just eat a normal meal an hour after PWO shake and then go to bed (no bedtime shake).

The time of day you eat really isn't very important. What matters most is staying in the calorie range you need to be in. People have different schedules so of course they will eat at different times as well.

When I train late, I like to have a shake immeadiately after gym (whey, waxy maize starch, and rengeneration), followed by turkey tenderloin and spinach an hour later.

But, like flex said... just keep it in your calorie range.

This is what I do as well. I thought I might wake up in the morning with hunger pains. But I do not wake up starving. I feel the PWO meal is very important to be followed by a good solid meal. And for me I am not to concerned about casine being part of the meal. I just make sure it is a good solid meal (meaning it has all the macros in the ratios I target) and is of sufficient calories. So this meal I will error on the large side and not skimp on it. But this is what I do and it seems to work for me. As a side note I feel I need to make sure my first meal is a good solid meal as well with some easy digesting protien.
