I'm very new to this message board as you all can tell from my massive post count but this is the very 1st thread I came to under diet and nutrition and only to find it is an advertisement. Not a very good first impression I must say especially when a supermoderator whatever that is gives the spammer a thumbs up.
I'm surprised this site allows advertising spammers. 1st I've seen actually that hasn't been deleted.

A short time ago I noticed a thread started by a mike263 entitled "Go Lean Cereal" His comments were as follows:

So the very next thing I did before I even thought to respond was to see if Kashi the maker of the cereal was a sponsor here as well!!!! You see what I mean? I shouldn't have to be doing that!
This place is like one of those M&F ads. The table of contents says: loose 10 pounds and add 10 pounds of muscle at the same time. You go to the page they tell you and read the 1st page, turn it over and there in big letters with a photo of some model bodybuilder mixing a muscletech drink and the whole thing turns out to be an advertisement. Thanks but no thanks. These ads don't belong in threads. Bodybuilding.com never does that crap nor do they allow their sponsors to whore the threads.
I said my piece on the matter. If the people that run this board allow it then so be it. I'm just expressing my dislike for that type of exploitation.

I don't see this as spam or "whoring". In fact, I appreciate this isntead of true spam in my PM box or email inbox. Rob was just letting us know what's going on with ATW in case anyone is interested.

Aside from that...

If anyone were to ask about Muscle Milk (like your example about Go Lean), would you then go and look up the sponsors to see if Cytosport is a sponsor? People are here to ask questions and get answers and learn.
The whole point this message board is the interaction of the members, sponsors welcomed and included.

If someone asked a question about a product, I don't see how one would think the product in question is from a sponsor.

If Rob (or any other sponsor) places a notice in the appropriate section (Diet & Nutrition, Supplements, Training, etc.) alerting members to a special, again I don't see what the problem is. Saves HIM time in sending emails and saves us the trouble of dealing with more spam.

Again I suggest a section entitled "Specials from our sponsors" This is a special pricing for a protein powder.

If it were me I would have added something more then explaining to the members the pros to supplimenting a diet with protein can be benificial and then suggest the product by name. Then it would be at least informative and "helpful" as this section was really meant to be.

So in email form you say it would be considered spam but on the board it is not..... OK whatever. Not my business. Your mods here are ok with it so fine.
Anyway, I'm freeken new here, I think I have less then 10 posts so I'm not here to start any problems with you people. I simply stated that I found it surprising that it be allowed even by a sponsor. I don't see it on any of the big named message boards such as BB.com as I stated earlier and I've been there for years. It's tacky.

I can appreciate that is not what you would expect to read for your 1st thread. But the thread topic didnt actually mislead you in regards to what is contained within it.

Rest assured 99% of the threads here are relevant and informative (not that this one is not).

Its definitely not spam. This is a great personal touch from the sponsor.

Well Rob. (If I may call you by your 1st name), if not, speedy, I apppologize for this getting so out of hand. Like I said I didn't know you were a sponsor at 1st. Secondly sponsor or not I was surprised to see the site allows advertising in the threads like this. Lastly, and why I got so serious was because you stated it wasn't an ad when it clearly was and I took that as an insult to my intelligence. (the fact I can't tell an add when I see one) Regardless, it doesn't matter and it wasn't anything against you but site policy. If they think it's ok to advertise then by all means I can't blame you. PS: I have seen where you do answer questions on the site regarding real questions so I applogize for that as well. Saves HIM time in sending emails and saves us the trouble of dealing with more spam.

If it were me I would have added something more then explaining to the members the pros to supplimenting a diet with protein can be benificial and then suggest the product by name. Then it would be at least informative and "helpful" as this section was really meant to be. So in email form you say it would be considered spam but on the board it is not..... OK whatever. Not my business. Your mods here are ok with it so fine. Anyway, I'm freeken new here, I think I have less then 10 posts so I'm not here to start any problems with you people. I simply stated that I found it surprising that it be allowed even by a sponsor. I don't see it on any of the big named message boards such as BB.com as I stated earlier and I've been there for years. It's tacky.

I for one come here to offer some knowledge regarding fitness and health. I don't want to be reading a bunch of hokey and dorky ads like this one. I mean for Gods sake: Era of All the Whey is about to be unleashed!!! Has anyone told this guy he is talking about a freeken protein and not some new science break through??? It just reminded me of one of those muscle tech ads but much worse and it twisted me.
