Rockin' post TW! Most excellent info, thanks for posting it! I especially liked the second article as it had some things in there I didn't know and the first one served to confirm. I'm adding those to my plethora of BB info, thanks!

Good stuff. The spot reduction stuff is arguable. It is sooooo funny to see some of the stuff that comes up. I remember 5 years ago it was said that anaerobic training will NOT burn fat and now here we are, finding out that, while you my not burn a significant amount of fat DURING the training, overall we burn more fat as a result of anaerobic training.

You can not change fat into muscle. You can gain or lose muscle and you can increase or decrease your fat stores, but one does not turn into the other.

A personal feeling that I have is that the docs are saying that you cannot spot reduce because they have yet to measure it. Just like a few years ago, they said you burn no fat doing anaerobic training. While they are correct that during anaerobic training the amount of fat burned is negligible, they never really measured the aftereffects of it, which are far superior to aerobic training. I am not saying that spot reduction can happen, I am just saying that you can't discount it yet just because they have not seen it.

So, Dunc, if I do 100 leg lifts a day I won't have any fat on my thighs?

Actually, the major experiment that they say refutes spot reduction is one where they took the circumferences of tennis player's forearms and found no significant differences in size and fat percentage between the non-playing arm and the playing arm. In my opinion, this is not sufficient evidence to totally refute spot reduction.

And w8, nothing could remove that cottage cheese from your thighs.

P.S.-Do you know the name of the mechanic from Dukes of Hazzard?
