    Bulking question

Hi, I am trying to bulk up at the moment but not having much luck, I calculate the calories, protein, carbs and fat for pretty much everything I eat just so that I get a feel for what a good day should be food-wise.

I wanted to ask how long should you bulk for before cutting.

I am aiming for around 3000 calories a day (currently weigh 86kg (190lbs)) but find it hard to reach that amount, and then I am always dissappointed with the amount of protein that I have eaten, for example, one of my better days:

    1. Smoothie with Mango, banana, strawberries, raspberries
    2 boiled eggs

    2. Protein shake

    3. Tuna sandwhich (120g tuna), 50g brazil nuts, protein shake.

    4. 65g shredded wheat cereal with 300 ml milk

    5. 2 large homemade beef burgers and buns

    6. 150g cottage cheese with 5 Ryvita

This only gave me 2736 calories, and 202g protein

I don't think that I could have forced any more food into my stomach that day.

I have since discovered peanut butter but again find that the protein content of my diet is pretty dissappointing. I have seen diets on here where meat is eaten three or four times a day, is this a good idea, or should I be putting more into my protein shakes (at the moment it's about 30g protein including the milk).

    Many thanks.

give it time, it takes about a month (for me atleast) to get use to eating a ton. I currently take in 3100 calories per day and done in 4 meals. So yeah, give it time and you'll be able to reach it.

yuo need more fats, and a lot more complex carbs-oatmeal being your best bet. I used peanut butter and oats to gain almost 45 lbs in a 2 year period with some fat gain but not much.
