    Counting Carbs....

I am losely following a carb cycling diet however on low carb days they recommend no more than 50g of carbs.

I find this pretty much impossible due to the fact I think it is important for u to get your 5-a-day fruit and veg in and this alone will take u over 50g of carbs.

Do u count carbs from fruit and veg the same as other carbs in your diet such as oats, rice, pasta etc.

If so can anyone suggest some low carb fruit options for me?

    Cheers.

Find a diet that you can stick to, would be your best option.

Berries, Grapefruit, apples are decent fruits.

The point of the fruit in carb cycling diet is to replenish Liver Glycogen stores, and provide a fed feeling. So on a low carb day eating 5 pcs of fruit a day may be detrimental to your progress.

Try counting glycemic loads instead of actual carbs, could help out.

Also note that apples are relatively lower in carbs by comparison. Do a search on "The Glycemic Index" and you'll find a calculator for glycemic loads. That's also the best way to cycle since you're also going off which are the best slow release carbohydrate foods.

On the low carb portion of the cycle it would be best to cut back fruit in favor of more vegitibles, since you'll need them as your nutrient powerhouse during that time.

Goto www.glycemicindex.com and throw 'apple' into the search engine. You will get a GI and GL listing. There is also more detailed information on what exactly that means on site. Very useful
