    casein and cancer studies

    http://danmahony.com/bigfood2.htm

This scares me! I encourage you guys to read this and decide for yourself.

There have been some studies which link casein to cancer in animals....its something we should keep an eye on. Thanks.

Sorry, it's not a site that's backed well. One peer-reviewed study is quoted (and the link doesn't even work so without looking for it, I can't even say what's true....and it's a partial quote at best). In addition, there are many partial quotes from sites that simply publish opinion and not fact. Many of the "source" links do not work. All in all it's hard to take any of it seriously simply because it's poorly researched with little credible support. Hell, they even quote a thread (that's a bad sign).

Living often results in cancer anyway. Do the best you can.

My dad, with a Mensa IQ, believed that cancer was introduced by an aliens from another world. I wish I'd bothered to stop laughing when he brought this up from time to time... and inquire - before he died of it.

Yes, I agree the above link is not that trustworthy.

However you have to realize that casein is a milllion dollar industry and history has shows that unreputable studies also pave the way to more knowledgable and conclusive studies.....not to mention opposition from casein companies to prevent the publishing of negative studies. It's called a positive publication bias.

All I am saying is just be aware. Maybe the risk is not present, but maybe it is, just be informed.

Here's another link. (again not that reputable but worthy to look at)

Why is it worthy to look at if it is not reputable? The article finishes with the guy trying to sell his book, "the china study".

In my opinion, that link is not worth looking at at all! In fact. I am dumber because of it....what a way to start my day....DAMN IT.

As i stated earlier, there are reasons why there are not "many" reputable studies yet. "Positive publication bias", I know you are very familiar with that term.

Here is reputable study: (Just google casein cancer links, you will get enuf)

    a) that is not peer reviewed. that is not a reputable study at all.

A study needs to be peer reviewed.....also, that is not even an abstract....I would want to see the full and complete study and see how the researchers interpreted the data......a study can show anything it wants depending on the intrepretation of the data and how it is set up.......research proves nothing, it only suggests statistical evidence. So far, this study it no peer reviewed so it is flawed.....it is a biased opion on what he thinks happens and his vested interest in selling his books.

    Don't believe everything you read.

Also, for one, it is a dot com. Dot coms are notorious for putting out "reputable information" but they always have a way to bring it back around to sell something. That is just the case, this fucker is selling a book, that pretty much brings the worth of that source down to crapshit. Money money money money!
