    Overdosing Vitamins?

What might happen if you injested 10 grams of C, or similar overdosages of other common vitamins?

I'm sure your liver would bark. How much is too much?

If you haven't adjusted to the Vitamin C amount, then some nice paintings on the royal white will occur.

Depends on the vitamin and whether it is fat soluble or water soluble.

I like to paint... but not with bodily fluids. As I ignorantly interpret... water soluble metabolizers are more readily consumed? I guess... not stored?

Fat soluble vitamins are stored in the liver and fatty tissues and take a longer time to be used. Where as water soluble vitamins need to be replaced daily.

Why would you choose one over the other? When I bought my E, I chose water soluble. Just thought it best not to tax the liver.

    I'm still clueless.

    vitamin e is fat soluble

There is no choosing one over the other, they are all important.

D, A, E, and K vitamins are fat soluble. Water soluble can be lost through the urine. Fat-soluble vitamins tend to get stored in the liver for weeks and even months(not a bad thing). However, if you take too much you run the risk of vitamin toxicity in the liver.

I wouldn't worry too much about E though. It isn't very toxic in large amounts. Daily amounts of 400 to 800 IU are very safe. (although 400 is probably all you would ever need). No adverse effects were found in a one year study of 2000 IU daily. At 3200 IU daily toxicity can occur... headaches, diarrhea and high blood pressure.

Doses above 400 IU can thin the blood a little (like aspirin does)... so if you have clotting issues or are planning surgery it might not be a good idea.

C is extremely safe. No bad side effects were reported from many studies taking 10,000 milligrams daily for several years.

    I take 2-3 grams C, 800 IU E.

Backing off the creatine, NOS, tribulas... the glutamine is gone.

Not worried about anything. Just wondering if over the "long haul" any studies have been done regarding excessive uses of common supplements.

I think someone might know some more information.

But NOS will lead to more free radicals in the body, is suggested to use a good antioxidant.

The Vitamin Guide here is an excellent resource and it lists references to back it up.

I personally take 1000mg (time released) in the morning and another 1000mg before bed. I have done so for about 5 years or so. I rarely get sore muscles (even after brutal leg workouts) and I can't remember the last time I had a cold..

Caution: For those that have never taken Vitamin C supplements it's best to start off slow and build up to a larger dose or you'll get the shits..
