    Nubie gains from diet change!

So I thought I was going to loose a little mass while restricting calories. It turns out that I am gaining weight.
I went from 200lbs to 203 in one month with a 2000 calorie diet vs 2800+ calorie diet. The calipers show a 1% fat loss from a month ago and I can tell in the mirror.
Explination? My guess is that restricting calories forced me to make better food choices. I would take in more sugar without concern or have a couple of beers on the weekend during the bulking season. Now I read everything I eat and record my fat, carb, and protein intake. Looking back I was eating a lot of shit without realizing it.
Conclusion? Nubie gains from diet change. Is this possible?

    Calipers are very inaccurate.

Your diet numbers could be off.

Did you take your measurements at a consistent time and day?

Yea, I figure my fat readings might be a little off because I just started using calipers a month ago. Still not sure where the exact position of the supraliac is. I pull an inch above the hip bone. Not sure what the manual means by the tip of the hipbone. I have picked up some weight and my abs are showing better. I was expecting to loose weight on a 2000 calorie diet. I take readings first thing in the morning.
