BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com I have read endless articles, magazines, forum threads, etc.. about gaining weight. Basically I am 23 @ 5'10" / 140 lbs. I would like to gain more weight. I am taking a weight gainer and have seen results.
However my quesitions is about eating. Some people say EAT, EAT, EAT! But then I read these articles and read some threads that say the more you eat, the higher your metabolism will increase. Obviously I dont want a higher metabolism if I am trying to gain weight. So which one is it? Eat more = higher metabolism or gain weight? ------------------ Work Harder, Gain Smarter |

I believe it's both (but I may be wrong). However, the more important thing is not only the quantity of food you intake, but the quality as well. Be sure to eat a whole lot of high protein and low fat/carbs food. You'll gain weight for sure, and it's healthy.

Actually, its eating more often will increase your metabolism.
If you want to gain, you'll need to eat 5-7 meals a day, taking in more calories than you burn. ------------------ Just another day in the gutter |

It is true that you will have a more efficient metabolism if you eat smaller meals more often.
If you're trying gain muscle weight, this is necessary. Quote:

If you take 2 T of peanut butter with every meal(6), that's good for 1000cal. easy. Stay away from the sugary ones.

Digestion requires calories. The more food to digest = the more calories you burn. Protein has the highest thermogenic properties, meaning it requires the most calories to digest. This is why protein should be the highest macronutrient when dieting. To prevent metabolism slow down.
It's not a completely direct relationship, obviously. If it was, it would be impossible to gain weight. |
