I'm pretty sure height is determined by genetics.

Not too sure that drinking milk is going to necessarily make you grow taller ..

But yes you can drink Milk and still lose weight. You can get Skim milk to deal with the fat problem (although, the fat in milk isn't necessarily bad. Even though Saturated fats get a bad rep, your body actually DOES require SOME, and including a little (little being the key word) in your diet certianly won't hurt ya, and can actually be beneficial.).
Also the sugars found in milk are not bad for you either, they're natural sugars and are actually healthy.
Also Dairy (mainly the calcium found in dairy) has been linked to weight loss, mainly fat mass, so drinking some milk might even be more benefical than not drinking the stuff.

With all that said though, remember at the end of the day it comes down to calories. Have you burned more than you've consumed? Thats what you need to ask yourself.

Insufficient nutrients to cause growth will obviously stop growth, both in weight and in height.
    No Milk, no.
Milk is for babies. When you grow up, you have to drink beer.

I agree with this, but I never knew it worked the other way too.

HERE 's a good link. Lifestyle will definitely affect your height, it's not just about genes.
But to say drinking milk will help you grow taller is too general of a comment...

I was just thinkin of it as Genetics show your potential for height, while lack of nutrition can cause stunts in growth, similar to smoking or whatever. I know what you're saying as logically, but sometimes things aren't that simple. Like I'm over 6 feet tall right now. I find it implausible that by eating even better (or drinking milk), I could put additional inches on as I please. I should have paid attention in class.

What I meant was that you'd need sufficient nutrients to achieve your full potential. I don't think adding milk to the diet would cause you to grow more than you would be destined to, but the calcium would probably help you get there.

Oh. Then you quoted the wrong person, because those were my original thoughts. I figured good nutrition is obviously beneficial; bad nutrition isn't; but eating especially good won't blast us past our potential point determined by genetics just because we eat well.

In today's society it has minimal if any impact on overall height.

most of the time genetics mean alot but sometimes it doesnt. everyones body is differnet just because ur father 510 and ur motther 5'5 dont mean ur gunna be in between. u could end up shorter then ur mother or taller then ur father. the additional inches as well as the inches that u may never add has 100% to do wit ur diet/health(.)

Genetics go beyond just your mother and father.

Same here. My Mom and dad are short and skinny. My brother is 6'4 280, and I'm 6'2 235. My father is 5'8 160.
