Just because he says it, doesnt mean its true.
what if you are noticing concrete gains in your muscle mass but not so much in weight. Anyone else experience this? My high school track coach was a lean and big guy who was putting up a lot of weight and he told me he weighed 150lb. Just how strong is the weight and size correlation? Is body weight the primary indicator that muscle mass is increasing?
Just because he says it, doesnt mean its true.
I'm in process of losing 50lb of fat. I get stronger weekly and can move more weight each time I'm there. However my weight on the scale hasn't changed in three weeks. Visually you can see I am physically losing fat and gaining muscle but the scale doesn't reflect that.
The scale doesn't know what is fat and what is muscle, it just knows that something is standing on it.
I do my best to focus on the task at hand, and give 100% in what I'm doing at the time. Nothing else matters except the task at hand.
After almost 2 weeks... I am back and better than ever.

The scale doesn't mean anything. The only thing I use it for anymore is to see how much poundage I lose after taking a morning piss![]()
I can really care less how much I weigh, but sometimes I think my heads playing games with me when I look in the mirror. Like I might think one day I have gained a lot of mass over the days and the bext week I think I look skinny as hell. I guess the scale doesn't tell the whole story but I figure if you weigh 300 lb, you look like it. I just want to know how good of an indicator it is of progress (gaining muscle mass in my situation).
That was your coach's genetics. I'm the same way. I'm 6' and 230ish but I do not look my weight. People are astonished when they hear I'm over 200 pounds. I've seen guys grin with internal laughter as I load up for my bench sets. Then I lift ...... and I always love the feeling.
Take whatchya got and make into watchya want ... just don't ever sweat the spectators.
