4 regular 2 liquid? Ideally all regular and no liquid (save for post workout). But that would be in a perfect world.

they are breakfast, lunch, pre WO, Post WO, Dinner, Before bed? what is this?

you should have most carbs protein, and fat in the morning and less as the day goes on? calories in vs. calories out is how we gain/lose weight. That said, you can do different things with your macronutrients as far as nutrient timing goes. It is easier for most people to do it like you are suggesting and keeps things simple. At the end of the day, all that really matters is what you net.

Pre and Post WO should be high in protein and carbs? depends on lots of different things. In general, I think that having carbs around your workout are a good thing though. Protein is a given.

before bed should be medium in cals and protein? I wouldn't have a balanced meal OR a meal that is more fat and protein oriented. It depends on things. For example, I workout at night, come home and bang down a pretty loaded shake and then usually sit here for an hour while it digests and then hit the hay.

before bed and Post WO can be liquid? Post workout, liquid seems to work best as it gets absorbed quicker. Before bed can be a real meal though.

40 40 20 is the percent? I have said this before. Percentage is assisne as it is completely dependant upon caloric intake. Set your protein first and then structure everything around that (making sure you get in quality EFAs as well). If you are 180lbs and you need 180g of protein, your percentage of daily protein intake will be different depending on how many calories you take in. So percentage is not a perfect scale.

    hope that helps.

alright thanks. I work out in the middle of the day so before bed I could either eat a whole meal or a meal replacement shake? So I guess I should have a bunch protein and cals in it right? Also how should I plan out my protein, cals, and fat?

I thought I already answered that?

You should try and balance your meals out. I already answered that one too.

How the hell would I know? I don't know anything about.....goals, body weight, body fat, etc.....Shoot for 1.2-1.5g of protein per LB of lean muscle tissue. Create your diet around that. use caloric restriction if you want to lose weight. Take in more calories (above maintenance) if you want to gain weight.

you told him why both w/ glutamine, you don't think it helps w/ protein conservation, recovery, volume w/in the cell, etc? Think it's BS, or do you think we get enough naturally?

If you do take it don't get pills get powder it's more cost effective, and just pour a handful into your palm and chase it w/ water. I take it a.m., pre and post and before bed. For what it's worth I believe at bare minimum it boosts your immune responses. I haven't had a cold in the year and a half I've used it.

glutamine is great if you get it through IV or if you are a burn patient or in a bed.

How much you actually absorb through your gut, who knows? You would have to take a pretty high amount though.

It has been shown to be effective in helping prevent upper respiratory infections in those who have a very high training volume (ie marathon runners or triathletes, ultra distance runners, etc...).

It may help with gut health also.

As far as muscle building properties, it doesn't seem to pan out (as far as the stuff you can buy in powder form).

Also, I should add that if you are asking such basic quesions regarding diet, does it make any sense to worry about supplementation? NOPE!

yes, that is me. thank you. that is an old ass picture though. I probably look a lot smaller now....lol.

Like I said, it has been shown to help prevent upper respiratory tract infections. You seem to think that you feel healthier and less susceptible to getting sick. Glutamine is also a fuel source for macrophages (cells of the immune system) with work to sort of "gobble up" pathogens in the body (so to speak).

I just think you have to take a shit ton of it to see that real benefit though.

Either way, placebo effect works. If it makes you feel better, then keep doing it!
