Good question! I'd like to know the answer to this one too. I have some rice cakes at home... ingredients: brown rice, nothing else!

See thats where I would draw the line. Oats I can do, I like oatmeal...grilled chicen, sweet potatoes, etc. But eating styrofoam, excuse me I mean ricecakes, just pushes it too far for me. Yeah they may be healthy (are they?) but honestly could anything have less flavor?

Sure you can eat rice cakes, so long as it fits into your caloric and macronutrient range, your fine.
However there are plenty of better options than rice cakes. Rice cakes contain no fiber, and very little vitamins/minerals, are processed, and are ranked extremely high on the Glycemic index.
If you were to compare them to say, a bowl of Oat bran, the oat bran is going to have more fiber, more vitamins, more minerals, etc. It's just plain HEALTHIER!
If your going to eat rice cakes I would suggest you limit them to Post/Peri workout nutrition and/or a refeed.

I prefer popcorn cakes. Not that I ever buy them, but the women in the office sometimes leave a bag in the break room, and food left on the counter there is fair game.

I actually buy soy crisps instead because they have some added protein. You find them right by the rice cakes. Just as good and I will have them as my carb with tuna.

I like the rice cakes. I buy the plain ones, put peanut butter on them and then sprinkle some chocolate protein powder on top. There you have it: a crunchy peanut butter cup!

After a workout, I usually have a banana, protein shake (milk and protein powder) and about 4-6 rice cakes... I like the Quaker Apple Cinnamon ones.
