cravings when on a cut? are they normal?

I've been on a strict healthy diet now for nearly a week and swapped all the exciting carbs for those such as sweet potato and brown rice.

However, I seem to be craving things such as regular potatos, chips, pizza etc...

Is this normal? If so, does it pass?

I love it when a plan comes together.

Yeah I find it takes a few weeks of clean eating to rid those Cravings.

Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Took me about a month, but yeah now I'm to the point that I can eat my tuna and rice while all my buddies eat pizza. Doesn't bother me, I don't look down on them for their choices and I'm not tempted. If anything it makes me feel like I've won a small battle.

See I don't typically crave them, but then once in a while I'm an idiot and I'll have a bite or two of something, and then it's like ohhhh man what am I doing to myself?

It passes though.

One cheat meal a week keeps my cravings curbed. Even on cheat meals I won't eat crap sugar. I do that once every two months I will have some ice cream or cake. After about a month of eating super clean, there were no more cravings. I look forward to eating clean and reaching my goals and that outweighs any remote craving that pops up.

My wife and I were just talking about this. I look at some of the foods I used to eat when they come around, and I know how much work it is to burn them off. That alone deters me, I've got enough work to do.

The pizza craving will last for some time. I cheat now when I need it. Once a week for me is too much but after a couple of weeks I just really need some junk. I do eat potato chips everyday so I got rid of that craving. I just eat the 100 calorie pack with meal #2. When you just cant stand it, have a cheat meal, then get back into it. A meal, not a whole day.

Very true Iain Ive thought about why this happens. Do you think it's b/c once you start noticing differences in your body it becomes easier or something else?

ive been eating clean for ages, but still get cravings sometimes. I just have a tiny bit of whatever I want on the rare occasion and I'm good. It is good to fulfill or quiet the cravings regularly, especially when you start out, otherwise you may snap and binge eat.

General Tso's chicken once per month. I do go out more than that - maybe one other time a month, but I try to fit the meal into what it should be. On the real cheat meal, I try not to think about the cals and just enjoy it for what it is.
