Old fashioned rolled oats only take 3 minutes in the microwave and they are a lot healthier for you.

That's what I was going to say. The non-instant kind only take about two more minutes to cook.

3 minutes for normal rolled oats? I microwave them for about 1min to warm them up a bit, throw some cinnamon on, and I'm done.

Ditto. I take the smallest dose on the cyclinder shaped box before I work out and sometimes, I take the 2nd dose listed after I workout.

I hardly ever cook my oats or oat bran. Either soak in yogurt or in my shakes.

Yeah I just get the old fashioned organic rolled oats in the big cyliner deal. They taste good (no different from the standard quaker) and with green tea or just water it's 2-3 minutes tops, microwave, stove who gives a crap.

I love a great morning shake, just poor 1 cup of oats in the blender with some organic plain yogurt, skim milk, whey, and frozen berries.... there's your calcium, live culture, carbs, antioxidants, protein, and just plain satiation right there.

    ...now I'm hungry

It's quicker in the microwave since the microwave radiation causes molecular friction in the water to produce the heat thus heating everything evenly. The stove usually gives a better texture 'cause it heats from the outside in and can give the nice sometimes crisp heat feel to it.

Me I just use the microwave for ease. Put it in, push the button, take it out, eat it.

Is there any other difference between instant oats and regular oats besides the fact that the instant oats are grinded down finer so that they can cook quicker? On the back of the quaker oats package they both just say rolled oats as the ingredients.
