using a brine for chicken breast

I used a brine on chicken breast yesterday and the difference was amazing. Is it ok to use one and how would you account for the cals in the brine?

    4 cups water
    1/4 cup salt
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    2 bay leafs
    1 red chile cut up
    1 red onion cut up
    2 garlic cloves
    20 peppercorns

let the chicken soak for 1 or 2 hours and grill.

I wouldn't worry about the calories in it that much. It don't look like much, but a big no on the brown sugar.

Why is the sugar such a no? I would of thought the salt was a bigger problem. I will try it without and see how it taste.

Increases insulin and promotes fat storage. Your body needs some level of sodium, usually 2000mg per day is good. Sodium is an electrolyte and without sodium you can really mess up your electrolytes. Basically you can't live without sodium but you CAN live without sugar.
