Question Are cold meats bad for you?

Hi,

I eat a lot of cold meats: Black Forrest Ham, Roast Beef, Smoked Turkey, Turkey.

Are these bad for you? I heard cold meat isn’t good for you.

Thanks

That depends on what you mean by "bad for you." A lot of those deli meats contain high amounts of sodium. Some others, such as roast beef and pastrami, are high in fat. However, if you are looking for protein, most deli meats are protein packed. Turkey breast, ham, roast beef, etc are loaded with protein. I personally like the footlong Subway Club on wheat bread. have that with some mustard and lots of veggies, and you've got one healthy, protein filled snack.

Well, I am looking for protein. I’m looking for overall healthy foods.

Does the sodium content in cold meats outweigh the protein content?

Why is sodium good/bad for you?

Subway:
I eat the Roasted Chicken on whole wheat bread.
The Roasted Chicken at Subway looks processed? Is it a good choice health wise?

Thanks

Too much sodium is bad for your heart and also makes you retain water. However, we're talking about HUGE amounts of sodium to have a negative effect on your body. If you have a resonably healthy diet, you most likely have nothing to worry about.

Personally, I don't think the sodium content of those meats is anything to worry about unless your doctor has you on a low-sodium diet.
