    Depends on the Manufacturing process.

    They can go rancid if not processed properly.

    How would you know when it went "rancid?" All fish oil capsules that dont protect against fish burps taste the same.

    Some have pointed out a fishy smell.

    Just like buying real fish, if it smells off. Then there is something wrong.

    I got the Optimum Nutrition brand (of protein powder fame), and they seem of very high quality. From 1fast400 (BulkNutrition), they were only 14.65 for 300 caps, and that includes shipping.
