Is my slow progress a lack of protien

I am in my 4th week of training. I haven't seen any results I weigh 210 and am 6' I do cardio 2 week and weight 3days. I am beginning to think I need to increase my protien intake. Do you think I will see quicker results if I do this?

I generally eat 5 times daily, I try for 6. My first two meals alternate between raisan bran and a nutritional bar. Lunch can a ham and turkey sandwich, turkey with long grain rice, a chargrilled chicken burrito with guacamole and jack cheese or speghetti with meat sauce (basically a carb and some protien)afternoon is usually a granolla bar (natures way) and dinner basically is alot like lunch but a little bit larger portion.

Honestly, If your wanting to lose fat and gain muscle then I don't think your diets as clean as it should be.
1st, I think you do need to add more protein.
2nd, leave the milk/cheese and raisin bran along. (to much sugar)
3rd, leave the luncheon meats along. (to much salt)

Try to consume things like grilled chicken breast, tuna, very lean beef, and protein shakes for protein. For carbs, you can't go wrong with oatmeal (kind with no sugar), pasta, vegatables, and occasional fruits. Also natural Peanut Butter and flaxseed oil is good for your fats.

Also, you will not start seeing noticible gains until around 6 to 7 weeks. So be patient and it will come.

Hey Junebug,
My goals are the same as yours. At the beginning of the summer i weighed 280 lbs, I'm 6'8" so i thought i was supposed to be that big. I was never fat, just big, with a lot of loose fat. Since the summer i've worked out about 5 or 6 days a week. I'm on my 6th week. Right now i weigh 241 lbs. The main thing you want to do is eat healthy. Protein is deffinitely important. But you need to watch everything else. You should eat carbs earlier in the day. And lean meat towards the end of the day. And have lots of fruit, vegetables, and water in between. I don't drink alcohol or soda anymore. My favorite food now is chicken. It is better than anything you could imagine. It is very tasty, you can vary the way you cook it. It is high in protein and low in fat. I have protein shakes. One 2 hrs before i work out. Then i have one about 20 minutes after i work out. I hope to keep improving. I've got a long way to go. I'd like to hear how you improve as well. You can IM me any time. My AIM is LogreBeast.
good luck
if you keep trying, it will happen.
