Too much fat in my rice?

A few months ago, I introduced 300g or Special Fried Rice into my diet ( amongst other foods)everyday, to up my calories for bulking. I classed it as my 'treat bulking cals' - knowing they probably weren't the cleanest of cals but were just tasty.

I had a glance over the nutritional info on the packet and it didn't really worry me (as I tend to go by the swelling of my belly as more of a guide), but recently I've been reconsidering if it's a good choice (remember I'm bulking, so prepared for a bit of fat).

Combined with the other far cleaner calories I introduced, it has given me some good gains with minimal fat (I can still see my abs and serratus - just not as defined), but I now want to know if you guys think I should ditch it for something else.

    Here's the info-

    300g portion:

    681 calories

    87.4g carbs (sugars 2.5g)

20.5g protein (although having 'egg' in it, I know this is not useful protein)

    27.7g fat
    - saturates 4.3g
    - mono-unsaturates 13.6g
    - polyunsaturates 8.6g

    3.8g Fibre

    0.6g Sodium

    Cheers.

Why not make your own fried rice?

then you could add healthier fats, and or other meats/prawns eggs etc?
still high in cals but a little better choice than the bought stuff.

Anyway, I wish i could eat shit like that again.. Cutting is painful!

I use the packaged stuff as it's convenient. I cook a big batch of chicken and Pasta etc on a Sunday that lasts for the week, but I know rice won't last that long after I've cooked it. That's why I stir-fry it in olive oil in the mornings as well as preparing the rest of my meals for the day, before I go to work.

I haven't really got the time to boil up rice etc every mornig.

Fried rice is easy to make.

Just precook your rice, then throw in a frying pan with some eggs. Add what ever seasoning you want.

I would chose that over any prepackaged shit. JMO

    Speaking of Rice...

I was in the store looking at rice twice now and noticed that yellow rice isnt too far off in calories than other rice. I am talking just a bag of rice too...only thing added is olive oil.

Yellow rice takes so fucking good too.

Absolutely! If you can boil water you can make rice! Screw processed, pre-packaged, BS fried rice. Make your own!

Put brown rice and twice as water on the stove. Cover and simmer (on low) for 30-40 minutes. When it's done, let it cool and just stick it in the fridge. If you want it fried, fry it (although why bother?).

    Easy! And nutritious.

go to the asian market and buy a really nice large rice cooker. add rice, water, push a button and you can cook a substantial amount of rice pretty quickly. the rice will keep in the cooker for a couple of days so you could make enough for 3 days and leave it in there or put it in containers. you'll end up spending around $100 for a good one though. it was well worth it in my opinion. you could always get one of the cheaper ones from walmart for $20 but once you've used both, you'll want the better one.

Rice cookers are the way to go. Put in rice and water and it cooks itself and even shuts off when it's done. If it's easy enough for me, it's easy enough for anyone.
