Intense cardio is just as fatiguing as weight traing.
Key word being Intense!
I figured it should be still around the same calories, but what about days that are not intense? (e.g. moderate intensity, 30 min jo/walk on treadmill)
Then I think about the time spent on HIIT compared to the time spent on weight lifting. Ill have a longer day in the gym when I weight lift vs. just do a HIIT cardio session..
Calorie expenditure comes into play now I suppose...
Then does HIIT training (lasts up to 30 min) have more, less, or equal calorie expenditure than a high intensity hour of weight lifting?

could depend on how much work you are doing during that 30min. Depends on how intense it is. How much mechanical work is taking place, caloric expenditure, etc....Then, it depends on what you are doing during the weight training....what type of exercises, rep ranges, sets, rest intervals, intensity, etc.
Basically, there is just to much to account for to be able to really guesstimate what is equal.
Just know that the weight training creates a high amount of tissue damage and depeletion of energy stores (glycogen) and the intense interval cardio stuff does the same thing.
I am cutting. My goal is to have a six pack for the first time of my life, relaxed. I dont know what BF % I will have to be at nor will I know how much weight I have to drop as this is the first serious cut Ive ever done.
I figure this would work as a baseline for future diets. So far so good, but I can tell energy is starting to deplete and its only a matter of time until some strength will go down.
Just popping in here to ask a quick question of my own
Is burning 400-500 calories per session for 3x a week (1200-1500 calories burned) enough to drop BF if i am eating 3000-3200 calories a day? Also, i am lifting 2x a week as well.
if you are losing body fat, then you are eating in caloric deficit. The only way to know if it is working is to track your progress.....girth measurements, calipers, body weight (last resort), weekly or bi-weekly progress pics...etc.
