Banned Starving!!!!!!

Hey everyone!!!!! Some days I feel like I am starving or hungry all day!!! How do I overcome this. I don't really want to take appetite suppression pills. Yesterday, I was at work and I was hungry all day long!!! I ended up eating some rather bad foods b/c I was so hungry and that is what was available. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do????? Plus, when I am really hungry I eat super fast and then get a huge tummy ache. How can you eat slow (so you can feel full) if you are starving????????????????

Question

Are you eating 6 small meals per day? What is your total caloric intake daily?

Let's see a sample of your daily diet.

I'm lucky, I've got a job where I can eat whenever I want but for those who can't, having a protein bar or drink to tide them over till lunch or supper works well.

But you gotta eat, diet doesn't mean starving yourself, it'll do more harm than good.

There are days when I eat constantly all day long. I don't know if it's friggen hormones or what, but sometimes I am so hungry. I usually just go w/ it and eat more food. I know it's hard to stay clean, but pigging out on clean food is better than pigging out on junkfood.

If it only happens once in a while, I wouldn't worry too much. But if you are constantly starving you may need to think about upping your calories by 100-200 per day. I'm a firm believer in listening to your body....if you're hungry, eat, if you're full, stop eating. If you're craving something, eat it, it won't kill you, lol.

When I get hungry and do not want to eat, I'll chug a large glass of water. Seems to supress the hunger for a little while. That doesn't happen too often though. I have the opposite problem...I don't eat enough for the amount of activity I do.

Hey,

I think it’s all in the head. Everything derives from the head. Try training your mind to think about other things when you get hungry.

When I get hungry I try to change my focus from hunger to something else (work, hobby etc).

I’m a firm believer that a lot of people get hungry too often, not because they’re hungry, but because they’re on an eating plan. Their mind/body constantly reminds/challenges/tempts them more often with food, even though he/she might not normally desire food if he/she weren’t on an eating plan.

Have you every been doing something for a really long time that was intense, fun or interesting (except sleeping)?
You can do these things 8 hours + without eating and not realize where the time has gone. This right there is an example of the mind taking focus onto something else. If the mind isn’t focussed on or consistently reminded of food (or whatever) then your hunger won’t occur as often.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t eat for 8+ hours (that's ridiculous). I’m all for eating regular healthy meals and healthy snacks. But all I’m saying is some people, including me, have the urge to eat to often, ‘cause it’s almost like alcohol, it’s like a high.

If all else fails I do what I Are Baboon writes, drink a big glass of water. It solves the problem for a very short period.

I have written this very thing many times. I agree 100%. One of my favourite sayings is "dieting is a mental game". And it's just that. When you put restrictions on your diet, you can't help but think of food constantly.
