    Fiber and Insulin

I eat clean about 95% of the time. Oatmeal, Sprouted whole grain bread, brown rice, Sweet Potatoes, buckwheat pancake mix, fruit, vegetables are my carb staples. My question is about some of the more refined carbs and the insulin spikes they cause. If I were going out to eat and had a chicken wrap (just chicken and a flour tortilla-I know, not a great carb choice) and took a TBS of psyllium seed husk with it, would that diminish/reduce the insulin spike and make it impact the system more like a ww tortilla? I know the nutritional value would not be there, but I'm just trying to work around a scenerio that might arise once a week or so. thanks....

Fiber, protein and fat will slow down the insulin release in foods.....exactly how much, can't say for sure but if you absolutely have to eat a flour product it's best to make sure you have plenty of fiber with it

Thanks for the reply Jodi. I generally don't eat flour products, maybe once/week for a cheat meal, that's about it. again, thanks....
