    Sushi

My wife took me to a sushi bar the other night, because I said I wanted to try something different. I'd never had it before, and I loved it.

How healthy is sushi? I realized the rice is going to add carbs, and the soysouce and whatnot is going to really load up on the sodium, but........Is this something I can throw into my diet as a every once and while thing?

(Note, I normally do a low carb type of diet, but after having foot surgery I've been doing what the doc says. Now that I'm ready to sling iron around again, and wanting to get my diet back in order, just wondering if I'll be able to squeeze sushi in on carb loads or whatever).

If you are not a competive bodybuilder and/or tryin to cut like a mofo,
than there is nothing wrong with having a little white rice every now and then.
I have no problem with eating white rice one in a while.
Sushi is obviously loaded with high quality proteins.
When I go out for sushi I like to order sashimi and get a bowl of brown rice.
If the waitress tells me that they don't have brown rice, then I usually pick her up over my head, spin her around a few times then procede to throw her through the window.
    Just kidding.
If they don't have the brown rice then just get the rolls with the white rice
or order the sashimi and get a bowl of white rice and leave some rice on your plate if you're worried about the GI and insulin spike.
    But like I said,
if your're not preparing for a contest than just eat away.
There a alot of things worse than raw fish and white rice.
If I am away from home and have no access to my post workout protein shakes(HOLY SHIT!)
Then sushi would be one of my first choices for a solid meal.
    It's good stuff!

    Angry HELP I NEED SUSHI

I too am a confessed sushi lover.
My BF and i go once a week, and would go more if we could afford to. To me sushi is better (ok not better but close) than sex.
The textures and different tastes are so amazing. Sorry about all the details here, i am 5 days out from a comp. and am dying to have sushi.
Anyways, sushi is great food to build lean muscles. The raw protein is awesome. The white rice does have a high GI rating but if you arent dieting and want a treat white rice is the way to go (in my opinion). Gomae Ah is boiled spinach in a sweet soya sauce and is very good for you, and like CR said sashimi is always good too. K i have to go now, my stomach is rumbling and i am going to have a breakdown.

Just don't eat the rice from every piece.

I had some last Friday with my 7 year old.

LOL! Thanks for the responses. I knew the protein would be high, but was concerned about the rice and sodium. Good to see I'm not the only sushi lover. Thanks guys and gals

uncooked proteins like eggs, meat and fish are metabolized very fast (20-30) minutes. if you are in a serious weight gaining or cutting program you will have to eat again soon after...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Try sashimi. It's basically the fish without the rice.

You may or may not know this either, but when preparing the rice for the sushi, they mix it in a SUGAR and vinegar solution.

You see....now, I was thinking after J'bo said it was almost better than sex that I might try some....though, I guess if someone were ultra pornal it could backfire and make her want sex more (no names of course) But fuk that shit...it's got sugar

I went from eating it every week at least once, to only being able to eat it as my cheat meal because of the sugar and the rice and any other unknowns.

You should try it W8. I would agree if you find a really good sushi bar, it is better than sex.
