Fructose is insulin indepenant. It gets metabolism and stored in the liver so never reaches the bloodstream to create the insulin response. Hence, why people say fructose replenishes liver glycogen preferentially.
If your live glycogen is already full then fructose will be convert to fat and stored.
Fruit is ok cause it's got fibre, vitamins, phytochemicals etc... Also, the amount of fructose actually found in fruit is about 1/3 of the total carb count, so ignore the fools who say fruit will make you fat - they clearly don't realise how much fruit you'd have to eat.
Some fruit isn't as appropriate, but look out for the most fibrous stuff and you'll be good.
