    Carbs Good/Bad....

The following is my current meal plan. Constrictive criticism would be great!

    Meal 1. 1 cup oats, 7egg whites/2yolks

Meal 2. 1 baked potato, half lb chicken breast

Meal 3. about 1-1.5 cups of white rice, half lb chicken

Meal 4. no carbs (pre workout shake)

Meal 5.orange/apple and or banana (with post workout shake)

Meal 6. usually a small portion of white rice or baked potato or something close to those. (i.e. brown rice, or whole wheat bread) with some kind of red meat.

Meal 7. Veggies, with half lb chicken

    Meal 8. before bedtime shake.

my question is, ive read and heard (from prominent sources) that white potatos are a complex carb and are slow burning. and i read that Jay Cutler eats white and brown rice year-round. so my question is, is white rice a slow burning carb? most everything i read or hear they just say "rice" they dont say brown or white. so can i eat white rice when im trying to lean out a bit? dont mistake me saying "lean out" for cutting beacuase i know my diet is not strictly cutting its more of an off-season diet.

also, am i eating too much chicken? is it unhealthy to eat it almost every meal? im gonna try to add some white fish to my meal plan like codd or flounder if i can to mix it up a little.

White rice and potatoes are indeed complex carbohydrates. However, they are not as slow burning as brown rice or yams or beans.

Either way, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that you eat fewer calories than you burn. This is the only way to lose weight/lean out.

However, I do not do well on white rice. It makes me hungrier than before I ate it. I prefer brown rice because it doesn't seem to have the same effect on me. That's just a personal observation, I'm not slamming white rice in general.

There is nothing wrong with having chicken as your primary source of protein.

If you find that you are not losing bodyfat, then increase your veggies and decrease your rice.

    Chicken is really good...but like everything else, it's good in moderation. I think it would be beneficial to mix up your lean protein sources...eggs/whites, whey, chicken, shrimp, fish, tuna, lean ground beef, etc. Variety is great for ANY diet plan ;

Where are the fats in that diet plan?

    Almost non-existant..

Include some fish oil caps, nuts, avocado for example. Doesn't have to be heaps, 4-6 caps a day = 1 every meal, or a couple here and there. Thats only about 54cals too.

Any idea what the total cals are for all that?

Egg yolks + red meat = fat.

But I agree you could add more efas.

ya i do needs more efa's i see now. i realize that my diet is more of a low fat off season diet and i want to lean out like a beast so i want to start lowering my potatos and rice to around a third and eat more veggies, like broccili, asparagus, and green beans. im gonna try to eat codd as much as i can over chicken too but its kind of expensive for a teen working part-time on low wages. i want macadamianut(sp) oil too but its pricey as well. so maybe ill just buy some avocados and eat more almonds. rationed of course. anything else i should work on with my diet to get super lean?

and sorry i havent calculated my calories that diet.

p.s. i had codd for dinner with broccoli and i loved the codd but broccoli sucks! haha. i also had a handful of almonds.

Well, you really should look at your calories before you worry about anything else.

If you ate nothing but rice and dohnuts you'd lose weight if your calories were low enough.

And if you ate 500 extra calories per day of chicken breasts or broccoli you'd gain a pound a week.

Calories are THE most important factor if you are trying to lose weight.
