Protein Digestion

I usually have a cup (250 mL) of protein powder in water which contains approximately 25 grams of protein. I drink the cup within 10 seconds. My question is:

What effects (positive or negative) are there to consuming this much protein in this short period of time?

Will it be absorbed properly or am I just wasting my time and money? Should I drink it over a longer period of time?

As far as the amount, 25g of protein isn't all that much. It's like eating a chicken breast but without all the chewing.

You would be getting the most out of your protein if you mixed it with some fat and fiber or simple carbs. The first will slow digestion down and the second causes an insulin spike which pushes the protein into cellular tissue for immediate use.
