Beer and weight loss?
Ok guys... im hitting the gym 3-4 times a week and doing 30-45 mins of cardio and weight trainning. my goal is to get leaner, and lose body fat.
My question is, when it copmes to beer, is there any special ingredients in it that cause that dreaded "beer belly". Like, is it the same as drinking a 120 calorie coke in terms of energy, or does something about it make it extra hazardous to the dieter... I love beer... and i just turned 19, so drinking 1-2 casual beers has become not only legal, but enjoyable. Feedback is quite appreciated thanks guys |

A couple of drinks now and again isn't an issue. Now if your going out a couple times a weekend and getting hammered. Then stopping off on the way home from the bar for Taco Bell or other drunk food. Then yes you'll plump up in no time.
I personally allow myself five alcoholic beverages a week, once I reach my number I'm all done. |

1 - 2 casual beers won't mess up your diet. And ... Even bodybuilders are humans, or are they?

Beer doesnt make you fat per say...technically speaking, alcohol is NOT stored as fat; it is oxidized ahead of other fuels so it hinders fat burning.
The idea that alcohol just automatically turns into fat or gives you a beer belly is off. It’s true that alcohol suppresses fat oxidation, but alcohol adds calories into your diet, messes with your hormones and can stimulate appetite, leading to even more calories consumed. That’s where the fat gain comes from. |

Nope- it's what you eat after you've had two too many beers that causes the beer gut!

As long as you aren't getting sloshed, the cons don't out weight the pros.
and as far as that statement goes, cals are cals, you are fine. |

Next day, sleep late as hell, have a big healthy (lots of protien/carbs etc...)meal to satiate you. Don't each much for the rest of the day. You will not put on weight doing this, you may even lose some. Of course, this is in no way healthy, or condusive for a bodybuilding lifestyle, but once in a while, whats the harm. This is way you can get sloshed and have a great laugh, and not put on much weight. |

Lately, if i have a big night on the piss planned, I will basically consume complex carbs + protein for brekky that day, and then have no other carbs for rest of day. Then fight the hunger pangs once smashed and next day pound out as much cardio as my little heart can manage. But really limiting this sort of fun to once a month will be better. A= your tolerance for alcohol diminishes, so you get slaughtered quicker, and les cals. B = cheaper to buy less piss.
I reckon do whatever you want. Unless training is the number 1 goal in your life, then you can, and should accept that you are doing negative things to your training without guilt or remorse. Acting on impulse is quite refreshing. |

Same with all other drugs and alcohol. They might be really cool and give ya a ton of fun, but they're shit for your body. No way around that.

Don't drink beer right before you go to bed. Get something in your stomach. Thats what I've learned over the years.

I like to mix if I want to get tipsy. Like drop .5mg xanax into a corona before I drink it. 2 beers later I am feeling as good as needed for the rest of the night. I still get to socially drink with friends and get the good feeling just like everyone else slamming them back.
