Brown rice still has the outer portion of the grain attached, which make it better for you. Still very high in carbs and I think kind of high on the GI scale. A no no for cutting.

I'm all about plagarism so I stole this from a website abut rice:

    Basmati Rice:
    Looks and Taste
This aromatic long grain rice from India and Pakistan has slender, fragrant grains and a nutty flavor. Available in white or brown; brown basmati has more fiber, a stronger flavor, and takes twice as long to cook as white.

Dehra Dun is considered the best basmati, because of where it's grown in Southeast Asia

    Nutrition Information
Excellent source of folate, and a good source of iron, niacin and thiamin.

    Easy Cooking
Wash the rice in cold water to remove dirt and prevent stickiness. Simmer 1 part rice in 1 1/2 parts salted water for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Best Uses
Delicious as a side dish, especially with Indian and Middle Eastern meals, because the grains remain tender, separate and firm even when cooked through.

I could only find the nutrional info for regular brown rice.
Just go here and scroll to the bottom.
I don't think the macronutrient breakdown of Basmati brown rice will differ too much from regular brown rice.

    Thanks Chest!
I don't understand TJohns comment though. I hear brown rice is good on a cut. Slow burning carb!

the GI/GR's are comparable for most brown and white rices, not much difference. the higher fiber and fat content of brown rice makes it a tad better, that's it...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

mochy, for me brown rice is like bread, is like peanut butter, is like crackers, is like sweet potato, is like raw nuts, is like all that crap that is okay to eat but you have to watch your portions and I just have a really difficult time with that!!

...but uh..no I don't know the difference. Sorry.

Thanks everyone! I found out that brown basmati rice is just as good as the regular brown rice. I hear that it tastes better as well.
