    Raisins?

Good? Bad? Either way, I'm addicted to these things. I get a craving for them and I just want to eat tons of them. I suppose it could be worse, but I'm wondering how good/bad they are as a part of my diet.

Account for them in your calories.

    Concentrated sugar basically.

    That's pretty good.

Check this out, I've got a little box of raisins here. And the nutritional facts are as follows:

    Total Fat 0g
    Saturated Fat 0g
    Trans Fat 0g
    Cholesterol 0mg
    Sodium 0mg
    Potassium 260mg
    Total Carb 27g
    Dietary Fiber 1g
    Sugars 25g
    Protein 1g

I wonder where the 4 cals from the gram of protein is going... I see how 27g of carbs gets knocked down to 100cals from 110 because of the fiber... but where's the protein going? haha

Yeah so it's obvious Iain is right it's pure sugar. Delicious though.

Speaking of raisins, I put regular raisins, golden raisins, and craisins in my oatmeal and grind a cinnamon stick onto it..... DELICIOUS

EDIT: post #800! congratulations to me for talking a lot

Its a number. Just like BMI is a number, yet flawed.

GI has little to no value when you consume a meal.

The GI will be influenced by the other foods that are consumed during a meal.

I can't stand raisins by themselves, I usually mix with with some nuts.

I too mix 1/8 cup into my morning oatmeal.

The sweetness allows me to do away with any other sweetener.
Plus I feel it is a better sugar than juice.

As stated, just account for it and eat in moderation.

I eat a few grapes during workouts, the natural sugars keep me going and burn much slower than sugars in drink form (so I've been told by a nutritionist).
