Have any of you ever used one of the many detoxification diets out there? If so, which one? Was it effective?

Actually yeah, I know some people who used detox diets that involved mostly liquids and several colonics. I'm not sure how well my body could hold up to such abuse though...

What diets are you looking at right now?

Oh and another helpful hint. Figs.

I've been meaning to do one of these things for a while. Thinking when i get my 2 day break between mini-semesters i'll fast and just drink water for a day or two. There is also a tea you can drink and it makes you shit your brains out for the day. Always wondered if those things work.

Colon Cleansing, Constipation, IBS, Colonix, Cleanse, Detox – Online Resource I have used the Colon Cleanser and the Toxin out. I am in my second month. The reviews are accurate. I like the products a lot.

Colonix.....Ehhhh, pretty harsh, no?

I've just been feeling a bit toxic lately. Sounds odd, but I can tell when my limit(s) for caffeine, rich foods, etc. have been surpassed. I just don't feel right. Lately I've felt like shit, actually. I was considering something more subtle, like going to a macrobiotic diet approach for a while. I can't really get too extreme because I run the kitchen here at the restaurant for both lunch and dinner, so I'm on my feet pretty much all day.....can't have any restroom emergencies during the lunch rush, y'know.

I would look into just the Toxinout. No emergencies there at all. I know you dont need to take the colonix but even that is subtle.

Even though I detest the things, I ran across an infomercial a while back for a product that claimed to basically purge one's system without the issues created by traditional colon cleansing products due to excess water in the gut...can't remember what it was called. The guy who created it was a freaky looking fellah, but his basic theory seemed to make sense.

It would just be nice to know that my system is "clean" for once....er, at least within reasonable limits, and to drop a few pounds of fat at the same time.

The product is called Dual Action Cleanse. The guy's name is, get this...Klee Irwin.

Maybe I should reconsider using something created by Klee. LOL

On a more serious note (rare) I wonder if a simple pseudo-macrobiotic diet comprised of smallish amounts of brown rice, generous amounts of dark green leafy vegetables (e.g., kale, spinach, etc.)preferably organic, a daily multi-vitamin and an increase in water intake would do the same thing. ?

Expound - ex·pound - to explain by setting forth in careful and often elaborate detail. expound - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

Sorry min0 I couldn't help myself on that one.

Anyhow. No, just drinking water and eating greens while taking a multivitamin will not detoxify you. I do recommend taking multis and eating green veggies on a daily basis but thats because you'll be getting valuble vitamins and antioxidants your body needs to be healthy.

As far as detoxing, going and getting a high colonic definitely couldn't hurt. I've had a few myself and I always feel like a million bux for a few days after wards. I have recommended them to people making nutritional changes from eating dirty to eating real clean, and a couple of them who actually did it told me they lost 6-8 lbs just from cleaning out the built up junk in their intestines.

I said "built up junk" you're thinking of the stuff that you put in there every day.
