    protein powder and cholesterol

so the other day I noticed that in 1 serving of my protein powder there is 150mg of cholesterol. I am just wondering if that is significantly high, or if that is normal for most mass building proteins? also, might that be harmful ingesting that much cholesterol? I normally only take one full serving on my training days, and ~1/2 a serving on my non-training days.

Is it a weight gainer? I wouldn't be concerned. ATW has 50mg in their supermass and ATW Isolate has 1mg per serving.

There is a site Cholesterol -- A Vital Building Block of Life. that explains ad nauseum on how cholesterol works in the human body. In the Myth section he talks about dietary cholesterol and its impact.

    Regards,
    Balin.

Dietary cholesterol can have in impact on serum cholesterol if other risk factors are present in your genes/lifestyle (saturated fat, inactivity, even insulin has been implicated in facilitating the onset of atherosclerosis etc).

If you are an active person and your diet is mostly clean, non-smoker, rare drinker, even with a genetic predisposition you are mostly good to go.

Good to see more and more people quit beating up on cholesterol

In fact low levels can be dangerous and let's not forget it aids greatly in neurotransmission, ie strength.
