Cutting water weight before holiday
need help guys from anyone who has done a show before, or has cut their water weight for a specific date.
i am pretty clear on how to cut my water weight, however i also know that you should reintroduce water to your body slowly, in order to avoid bloating. my question is this, on sunday 29th june in heading on holiday to ibiza for a week, and in order to look my best by the pool, i was thinking of cutting some water weight. now because of the nature of the holiday i know that the water will not be slowly reintroduced to my body, it shall be a rapid reintroduction in the form of quite a lot of beers. im nomally dont let myself drink that ofter, i find it messess with my workouts too much. however it is a partying holiday and so im gona give myself a break for a few days. because of the rapid way in which i will be reloading my body with water, i was wondering by how much it would be wise to cut my water weight, if at all? thanks for your help |

Cutting water weight to make a powerlifting weight-class or to prep for a BB show is a very transient thing.
For what you are thinking, you might do well to simply drop your carbs a bit and drink a bit more water than usual - in other words, de-bloat a bit, but that's it. Otherwise your regulatory hormones will swing the other way before you once again achieve homeostasis. My .02 |

Did I say hypothalamus? LOL!
When you "cut water", you're trying to dry out your skin, but hydrate your muscles. If you just want to dry out, period - that's easy: do low carb, do a depletion workout, and stay like that. Thing is, you'll look flat. What YOU want to do (I shall now channel you...) is to dry out your skin and hydrate your muscles. That part's tricky - and temporary. You do it by manipulating the hormones that regulate salt secretion and water retention while glycogen is depleted and later loading up on dry carbs which will scavange water from your skin as it replenishes glycogen stores. Selective osmosis, if you will. Sooner or later, this temporary state settles down. Mostly sooner - and you will hold extra water for a bit until your hormones figure out that you're drinking water again. Until then, you're one bloated pile of man-PMS. Hmmm... on second thought, do it. You'll finally understand women! <evil laugh> |

Cutting water weight and drinking alcohol in the sun is a bad idea.

You bet. I helped a powerlifter make weight using this little trick of manipulating aldosterone and antidiuretic hormone - using only water and salt:
