    Pasta

My Boyfriend and I were having a debate about pasta. We both know that pasta is high glycemic. I personally despise pasta becuase it tastes so damn good, but has LOADS of carbs and calories.

The questions is: Everyone knows when you eat fat or protein with your carbs, it slows down the absorbtion. My BF is trying to eat 4500 calories per day, and argues pasta is essential. he states that if he has chicken or eggwhites with it, it's OK.

What do you guys think? I don't see pasta in ANYONE's meal plan......

there are much better sources of complex carbs other than pasta. just to name a few. soy beans, kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas, barley and 100% oats..

Well they won't kill him, and as far as fat gain goes, if he's eating upwards of 4500 kcals a day he's gonna add fat either way (unless he's 300lbs, fucking huge and has a BMR of 4495).

I personally tried to avoid using man made carbohydrate sources as staple parts of my diet. I try to think of overall health aspects as well as how they affect me, my body and my performance.

I have tried explaining to him the same, but he insists he needs the cals. There is a guy we know who takes in that much, who is shredded-but also on the juice. So maybe if you're on juice you need the cals?

Actually, pasta is med-low GI isn't it?....either way, it's a processed wheat product, which is why it's not a good choice of calories. I agree w/ LAM...that there's far better sources of carbs to eat than pasta, not to mention fats...oils & nuts are calorically dense and far better for you than processed wheat. ....I also agree w/ Chicken Baby in that it likely won't kill him on a bulk if he does eat it

...and...a natty BB can not compare themselves w/ a juicer!

To be honest I think he is starting a cycle of Deca and something else. I am not sure, since I am not juice savy. So I think that's why he is insistent on the cals. I still think he will gain fat-whether on the juice or not. I am going to copy this paste for him....

I didn't know pasta was med- GI...So if your bulking- it is ok, when cutting or losing BF, its not....

As I said ...even though it's med-GI, it's still a processed wheat product...it's still going to convert to sugar rapidly in your body.

Now if he's using, then any fat he does gain is going to come off easier because of the gear anyway, so it probably doesn't matter much

to maxemize gains body builders during their cycles will consume large amounts of food in the neighberhood of 3-5 thousand cals a day. He should be consming quality complex carbs and protein. Not to mention quality mono sat fat. As for his cycle it is very vital to know exzactly what he is taking and how much. The guy who consumes 5000 a day is probely doing t3 or something else major. There is no way he could be doing it without drugs. If he wants some major gains he will put on some major fat too.

From one pasta lover to another, currently I'm taking "stuff" that is making me pig out. However, all my consultants have stated the same of what w8 is saying so I've laid off! I feel better now since! I also share the same opinion also with LAM. So much better things to eat that our beneficial to my *cough* supplementation. Today was cheat day and I cheated bad! 24 pieces of Sushi (Tuna and Salmon) Go ahead w8, whiplash me on the white rice-high glcyemic factor!!!

Thanks for the info guys! Now his belief is if you consume pasta with chicken or other protein source it will slow down the absorbtion. While true, I know pasta is process and like you said David-there are better sources of carbs! I asked him if he will be bulking or cutting and he said well both.
He has a lot to learn......
