Old fashion and quick oats are they the same?

I've been eating old fashion oats by Quaker...I was curious if the quick oats are the same thing, or should I stick with the old fashioned kind? The only difference that I see is that the quick once have a shredded look and they cook faster...I'd like to try them so I can save some time.....so are they as good as the other kind?

i'd stick with the old fashioned - not quick.
but did you know you can still cook the old fashioned in the microwave? done in just under 3 minutes. (be sure to allow plenty of room b/c they will swell up and boil over if there isn't enough space in the bowl)

IMO the old fashioned tastes better. More consistancy than the instant.

BTW - I can't count how many times I've blown up my oats in the microwave. LOL

SpecialK....it's only 3 minutes! The instant oats have undergone (is that a word?) more processing! Even better are steel cut oats

It's not really a time issue...I was just wondering if they were the same...the quick once look so much better...they white and fluffy...and I'm hungry....=( I guess I'll stay with the Old fashioned once....may be I'll be hard-core like the rest and eat them uncooked!
