Limited fruits while cutting are alright (I've done it both with and without fruit). I would stick to apples though as their high fiber content makes them more filling than say a banana, bananas just make me hungrier personally.
In the end it is all calories in versus calories out, just make sure it fits into your macros. |

The only things that really matter when you are cutting are your caloric defecit and the satiety level of your food choices. Fruits are high in nutrients, relatively low in calories and rich in both water and fiber. Especially nutritious are berries. Eating four servings of fresh fruit (never dried and no juice) will help you feel good and stay healthy during caloric restriction. If you aren't losing 1 to 2 pounds per week and the rest of your diet is tight, then you can cut down to 2 servings but I wouldn't eliminate them. (Obviously if you are lean to begin with you may not see much weight loss on the scale, but if you are already that lean then you obviously know weither or not your cut is working) |

What's wrong with dried fruits? Lower water content and high calorie density? I like dried fruits for bulking.

Just too easy to overeat them would be my guess.

Dried fruits are calorie bombs.
You would never eat 10 fresh apricots, but you could easily eat more than that if they were dried. But if you are bulking, there's nothing wrong with them. Assuming your aren't suffering from insulin resistence or diabetes. |
