Flatulence issues?

I have been into bodybuilding and keeping fit for around 2yrs and have noticed that i have started to get really bad flatulence....like 'have to leave the room' flatulence!

Could this be down to supplements or is there anything i can do to conceal/control the smell?

Thanks

Damn bro. What have you changed about your diet? What new supps have you been taking. Trying to identify whats causing this is going to be a trial and error situation. Figure out when this started and what you changed in your diet. Good luck.

protein shakes, egg whites, eggs, tuna, hmmm gee i wonder? :P

i'm the same way but i really don't think there's anything that can be done about it unless you're willing to give all that up... i just hope you have a gf or wife that loves you enough to put up with it!

No way man, i can't give it up! Have you always had bad gas or is it since taking supplements?

I've been on Met Rx Supreme Whey shakes but i don't think it is causing it because i had the problem before going on this.

Haha, i think my g/f is getting pretty pis*ed off now but what can you do!!!

high protein intake gives lots of people gas especially when mixed with certain other food types. I would recommend trying smaller meals if you can and get your water in between meals and not on top of the meal.

Well firstly, have you made any changes to your diet recently?

Are you eating sugar alcohols? They are notorious for giving people gas.

I get really bad gas when I increase the amount of protein in my diet... the problem isn't too bad at all when I slip and only eat moderate amounts of protein so I'm guessing it is indeed the protein that's responsible... especially protein shakes...

Yeah it probably is the protein.

My g/f at the weekend brought me some flatulence filtrating underwear! Can you believe it! I guess it's far enough as she can't stand the smell! They work though so it's a bonus!

That poor girl!

You could also considering reducing you protein a bit until you get accustomed and then increasing it as needed. Also reduce or eliminate nuts and then slowly reintroduce them starting with a smaller amount.

Did you know that chronic flatulence is a telltale sign of food intolerance? There are only four kinds of Food Intolerance (not to be confused with Food Allergy) and they are widely suffered:

Food Intolerance Prevalence
Dairy Intolerance
(includes Lactose intolerance) ~75% 3 in 4 people
Yeast sensitivity
(eg. Candida infections) ~33% 1 in 3 people
Gluten sensitivity
(inc. Celiac and Wheat intolerance) ~15% 1 in 7 people
Fructose or Sugar sensitivity ~35% 1 in 3 people
Food allergy ~1% 1 in 100 people

There are only a few types of food intolerance

Fructose intolerance
Dairy intolerance
Yeast sensitivity
Gluten intolerance

Thanks man,

It's actually quite helpful the link you sent. Think i need to be building up the protein gradually so i can get used to it- hopefully it will reduce the volume/smell of gas. For now though i have 'My Shreddies' flatulence filtering underwear that are working miracles!

What protein supps are people on?

who cares. Blame it on the dog (or cat), enjoy the stank, and be happy that you have excelled in something that some people just arent very good at.
