Refeeding: when to use which type?
I recently figured out I don't really know which type of refeeding has to be used when.
For the sake of this thread, let's use these terms to describe the two types: Type 1: After a period of low/no-carb dieting, you stuff yourself with fast digesting carbs all day or most of the day. You need to overflow your body's glycogen stores to replenish Leptin. Type 2: After a period of dieting, you go back to maintenance or bulking caloric intake for X days. Which do you prefer and when? Addendum: why does Lyle suggest a type 2 after a PSMF? |

From a technical standpoint, number one is a re-feed....although I would research the duration and the type/quality of carbs consumed, which vary depending on who's ideology you're following.
Assuming that my comment will be shot down in five, four, three, two....... http://www.ironmagazineforums.com/di...ds-leptin.html (Refeeds and Leptin) |

Type 1 is as you said, replenish glycogen stores and Leptin. Type 2 is basically a diet break to give your body a chance to recover. Too much dieting can actually decrease your metabolism hence the need for either a refeed or a diet break. |
