Okay, I'm just full of questions today
I've been on this whole diet thing for about 4 months now. I've lost 25lb and now I'm at a weight that I need. I've been making different adjustments to my diet, but seems like I'm missing something. I've lost lots of fat, but my abs are suffering..I lost the fat on the sides, but I can't get rid of the mid section. I do plenty of cardio/lifting. Here's a sample of my break down for yesterday. 1600cal, 150g P, 90g C, 60g F. I eat different stuff each day, because I get bored...but I try to stay close to the ratios. Do you think that that could be a reason? Too much variety? BTW, I'm 5'9, 135lb, F....any suggestions? Thanks
w8, I subtracted the fiber from my carbs, so it would've been 100carbs. I'm thinking that the fat loss stopped because I don't eat enough calories, so may be if I up my calories say up to 1800-2000 a day, and then go on a cut? I'm afraid though that my body got used to 1500-1600 cal, and that I will gain wieght. So should I still try and raise up on my cal intake, but slowly..and if I do, how long do you think it'll take for my body to get used to it, so I can start cutting again? I can't seem to get the ratios right though...I get enough protein, but it's the fat and the carbs that I have problems with. One day I'll be high on fat and low on carbs, next day I'm high on carbs and low on fat. I've been checking out Leslie's Journal...it looks like something that'd work for me, or I think that I might try ketosis for just a week, and see how that goes...sorry this is long, any imput will be helpful. Thanks
1500-1600 kcals isn't "starvation mode" so upping your calories is likely to increase your metabolism, rather than store any fat.
Pick a macro breakdown such as 50/20/30 P/C/F and breakdown the p & f evenly between 5 or 6 meals, which ever you take, then split your carbs so your getting 25-30 g at each of 2-3 meals...this way you'll get a better balance.
I'd stay at 1800-1900 for at least two weeks...but keep your meals more balanced...that will help a lot.
Thanks, one more thing...I want to try and to keto for a week. And since it required lots of fat, my cals will be up in 1800-1900 already. Is that a good idea, or should I get up to 1800-1900 with carbs first and then switch to keto diet? Thanks
If you're gonna do a keto start it on a Monday to keep w/ the schedule...5 days fat/pro w/ the weekends carbing up. Dont worry about the calorie increase on Monday. Do you know how to do a keto? I suggest ketostix.
I decided to start today...I got ketostix few months ago. I got some 400g of ALA, I know I should take it on my carb up day, but I was thinking if it'd be okay to take them one each day, and just take 3 on my carb up meal? Thanks
Hi All Im new on this board but have a question regarding ALA.
I have been taking 600mg a day 300mg at each Carb meal.
Will this be benifical and exactly what is the proper mg to take?
I thought is was 100mg for 10grams of Carbs?
Not ignoring you crystal, just been busy. Anyway, this is an interesting article to read, will give you some more info.
I'd take ALA on your high carb up days....wouldn't take it every day.
Thanks for the article Special K..... what benefit would taking ALA on a refeed day/carb up day. I generally carb up once or twice a week. For some reason I thought it was more beneficial to take it everyday. What are your thoughts?
