Cruise Diet?

OK so I'm going on a 5 night Carnival Cruise in about a month. I've never been on a cruise before, so I don't know what to expect. Anyone have experience that can help me out as far as diet goes? What can I expect? Can I carry on at all? Also will the workout center be adequate enough to maintain muscle at least?

Thanks!

I've been on cruises before. Don't worry about it. It's only 5 days - have a blast man.

Eat drink and get laid as often as possible

You are going on a cruise! Enjoy it as best as you can. Would you rather make memories watching what you eat and drink while slaving in the fitness centers? Or would you rather enjoy amazing all you can eat sushi, pizza, steak, lobster, yada yada yada?

I went on a cruise to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St Maartan after college graduation and it was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. Enjoy it man! Can't tell you much about the fitness center though. I would imagine that it consists of mostly machines and treadmills. I know there is an outdoor track as well but I guess it depends on the ship. Be sure to pay the extra money and get the special dinner they offer. Best steak I have ever had in my entire life.

Where are you going anyways?

Expect the gym room to be filled with machines, cardio equipment, dumbells up to about 80 lbs. that'll be about it.

Unless you're on a brand new ship. The one my buddy went on his honeymoon on had a gym better than the one he goes to at home, a full track and it even had a boxing ring. But yeah, most will be like you've described.

Mexico has a lot of great destinations and a lot of great food! You should be able to enjoy a lot of fresh chicken and seafood dishes. Just steer clear of the frijoles and tortillas! Each Carnival cruise ship offers a "Spa" menu which suggests leaner choices.

According to Carnival's press kit: "Nineteen of Carnival’s 22 'Fun Ships' house spas of at least 12,000 square feet and all Carnival ships offer a full gym complete with the latest exercise equipment and free weights, weight circuit classes, which challenge participants on the various machines, at least three swimming pools."

If it were me and I was going on a cruise in a month I would work a little harder leading up to the cruise, drop 6-8lbs, and then take the cruise off to do and eat whatever I wanted. Enjoy!!

Fun Cruise

We just did the carnival fun cruise to key west and round to mexico and I have to say NEVER EVER AGAIN ...Perhaps Im just to old for the FUN ! The food was nastie and I put on 4lbs and wasnt happy. The only good thing was the Gym loads of cardio equipment and weights so it saved the day.
We went on the Imagination and it was like vegas on speed. All the people on the cruise just wanted to eat the endless rubbish and the sit down meals the food was covered in sauces and creamy potatoes and salad must have been a swear word. BINGO in the afternoons, Mr and Mrs Game too get to know your partner it was like being trapped on a bad Holiday Camp with people screaming at you to have fun and be happy. I thought cruises where supposed to be high class well not on a carnival.
Its taken me a week to work off those nastie lbs and get back on track. Even if your single and looking to get laid you wont get it there. There wasnt one sexy man on that ship and even my partner agreed there wasnt even a woman who wasnt under 400lbs so good luck

The rationale behind promoting "quick" and "easy" weight loss and fitness is to sell a product. Fit, healthy people with "beautifully sculpted" bodies simply do not get that way from minimal daily effort. The testimonials of "ripped" body builders and "athletes" that sell their image as easy is clearly disingenuous. What this does is give the average overweight person a false sense of reality and what it is going to take to succeed at long-term weight loss. The first step that all overweight people have to take is to be honest with themselves. You need to accept the fact the road ahead will be difficult. By doing this you lay the foundation to build the type of inner strength and mental toughness that you will need to persevere and succeed. Everyone loses weight, but few keep it off.

The marketing of programs such as " 8 Minutes in the Morning" by Jorge Cruise are not realistic for the average person with a high body mass index. A more comprehensive plan is needed to change your behaviour, eating habits and exercise patterns. Realize those who lose weight and keep it off almost always follow the same strategy: balanced nutrition with portion control, daily exercise and especially important, they find a long-term motivation to change their lifestyle.
