    solid carbs before training?

i've gotten into the habit of coming home after work and throwing some low fat peameal or turkey bacon into a pan with some egg whites and low fat cheese and a glass of OJ... is this an acceptable pre-work out meal or should i be consuming solid, slower burning carbs for longer lasting energy? or will the bacon, egg whites and cheese provide me with my energy needs? thanks

Drop the OJ and make some oatmeal. I can drink a gallon of Oj a day but man is it loaded with sugar, liver sugar at that.
In any event I wouldnt call that a bad meal. Sounds like something I would do. Of course there are way better options.

Oh and what the hell is peameal???

No if's or but's abut it-definetely need the slow digesting carbs for fueling your high intensity workouts. This is one area almost everybody agrees on. My workouts are much better since I've started doing it. Like Merkaba said, eat some oatmeal or brown bread(my usual choice) or whole grain something and you'll be good to go.

My personal Fave preworkout snack is a slice of whole wheat bread with some natural peanut butter and a small cup of milk. Fairly low in cals, good carbs and fat, and some protein.

Its light, easy on my stomach and I get my energy for some serious workouts. Giddyup.

"In Britain, bacon made from the meat on the back of the pig is referred to as back bacon or back rashers. It usually includes a streaky bit and a lean ovoid bit, and is part of traditional full breakfast commonly eaten in Britain and Ireland. In the United States, back bacon is called Canadian-style bacon or Canadian bacon, but this term refers usually to the lean ovoid portion.[3] In Canada, it is called peameal bacon, whereas bacon is used generally to refer to strip bacon, which is more common to the Canadian diet."
