    Diet recommendations for my situation?

I'm joining the military as soon as I"m fit to. Currently I"m 36 y/o (yep, I'm joining at age 36) 5'10, 218pounds and I'm running a mile every other day and doing push ups and sit ups every day.

I want to do more and trying to push my self to but I feel like I'm lacking energy and wondering if this is due to my diet?

I don't do junk food except for the occasional bowl of ice cream. I mainly only stick to eating chicken or pork chops, spaghetti (multi grain), Rice (brown), eggs or fiber one cereal for breakfast, potatoes, Multi grain or wheat breads, green smoothies fairly often (love those!), cauliflower and sometimes Broccoli..ummm, Milk and fresh squeezed Lemon juice to.

Id like to lose 30 pounds in 2-3 months or sooner.. My budget is low atm so book recommendations might not help right now.

    Thanks in advance =)

I keep thinking of trying a Green Smoothie type diet.. drinking those all day and having a light supper at night? My green smoothies usually consist of mostly spinach, Kale, Swiss Shard and Collard greens, bananas, coconut milk, strawberries, Agave Nectar and steva -- and water. I haven't tried it yet tho.

I'm really lacking in the energy department..could really use some suggestions.

I should try making some smoothies with veggies sometime.

    boy...

    a green smoothie...

do the green and throw in a scoop of protein and youd probably have a decent meal...

    decent but disgusting im sure

i think ill stick to protein and oats though

old fashion oats have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol

provide energy for a long period of time. and are very easily measured...
making counting calories MUCH less tasking

---- a scoop (found in a bucket of protein) is 1/4 cup----
at least most i have encountered thus far are 1/4 cup... that includes ON, Intigrated, Muscle Milk, Numerous house brands, GNC pro performance

syntha 6 is more like 1/3 cup... but most all others are the same scoop as far as i tell

    anyhow

2 scoops of oats is 140 cals and
    19g carbs
    5g pro
    3g fat

    2 scoops of whey 240cal
    6g carbs
    48g pro
    1 g fat

    2 fish oil caps 25cal
    1g pro
    2.5g fat

    405 cals
    25g carb
    55g pro
    6.5 g fat

anytime i need a replacement meal i throw this one in there

    the macros fit MY diet

I thought so at first too.. but if you like a banana milk shake you'd like this.. it tastes the same, you just have to get over the color.

banana and a big handfull of spinach...ice, water, whatever berries you like. I do blue and straw berries.

Good stuff, surprisingly, and the spinach doesnt really have alot of taste when blended.

I used to do these all the time and i think I'll have one tonight! my texture is more like blended applesauce. Thats what I had to get used to is the texture. But I usually make mine thick to get in more spinach. I would say that I tried apples in mine one time and I do not like the taste in the mix, though I love apples.

If you water it down enough.. to like a watery milk shake and blend it for 3 minutes flat.. you'll get no chunks or textures. I actually prefer this now over anything else. The Agave nectar and steva really sweeten it up, I dont even taste a hint of greens

Programs is really awesome and its gives a way to live healthier life. Their weight loss programs are designed to help eliminate the behaviors that are making us overweight.
