does a calorie and/or carbohydrate deficit give urine a distinct odor?

ever since i started a calorie/carbohydrate deficit a couple weeks ago i've noticed my urine has a very distinct odor... it doesn't smell bad or anything and it's still the same clarity and consistency it's always been but i've just noticed a very distinct odor over the past couple weeks... and on days where i eat more carbs or calories the smell doesn't seem to be there? anyone?

toxins are often stored in the fat

these toxins could be anything you may or may not be aware of
    second hand tabacoo
    artificial flavorings in foods
    thc
    etc

if your going into a deficit these toxins are released from the fat into the bloodstream

and the kidneys cleanse toxins from the bloodstream
this is why urinalysis test are useful to test for toxins in the body

    one possible explanation

this is one reason it is especially essential to hydrate thoroughly when cutting

It could be ketones in your urine.

Yea I've heard of folks being able to tell they're in ketosis by their piss...without a test. Can't remember if it was odor or color or a combo.

"Ketosis merely means that our bodies are using fat for energy"

It's probably the smell of Ammonia. If it gets too bad, even your sweat can smell like ammonia.
