I figure out how many calories I need to sustain my current BW then add 1000 calories. How heavy are you now and how much do you want to gain?

Im not exactly sure what you are asking. When you decide to bulk your calories should obviously be higher than your maitenance. I know before I cut and bulk I plan out what my total calories and macros will be and I stick to it. Are you asking if you should be changing the calories and macros in the middle of a bulk?

I think it may also depend on the individual person because people react slightly differently to foods. It also depends on what your personal maitenance. There are a lot of factors involved.

I wouldnt add a thou over maint. 500kcals over should do the trick, anything too far above that will just lead to excess fat gain imo.

im 211 lbs ,6 feet tall.
im bulking but what i do is add calories whenever i see no gains in lifting.
i do not want to gain (too much ) excess fat, therefore i add few cals/per day (100-150) every 2-3 weeks.

Just keep 500 good calories over maintenance per day. Adjust as needed. I take it you know your maintenance.

If youre busting your ass in the gym and what not you want to make sure your body has EXTRA calories. 150 calories over maintenance isnt gonna cut it for a bust ass workout. Plus remember it will take days for recovery. Youre gonna have periodic plateaus that may not have anything to do with caloric intake. What is your maintenance?

Youre gonna gain some fat. No way around it. I wouldn't think 500 would give you excess. There is no exact science but you don't want to be wasting your time.

just test it out, start with 500 and if that works, go a higher if you want to be a bit bigger and as soon as you see too much fat increase cut back some. Like it was already said 'not an exact science', just have to find what works for you
