Pea, soy, using actual meat instead.
bring a can of tuna to the gym and pound it in the car afterwards mayhaps?
I have a friend that is unable to use dairy products. Also has to cut out gluten. Do you guys know of an alternative to whey? She has tried pea protein but says it's really nasty tasting. Any ideas?

My bad, I forgot to mention she's a vegetarian also. Definitely limits the possibilities!
How about soya or hemp?

Never thought of the hemp... have you ever tried it?
Vegetarian, no dairy.... Does she eat eggs?
Good luck.

Are you looking for a sub for protein in general, or just protein powder? Is she very thin, or overweight?
I'm avoiding wheat these days myself. Allow me to suggest chickpea flour (besan) - works great to make crêpes (Indians call 'em "dosa", the French know them as "socca") - they're good! Just mix besan, water, salt, a little olive oil and fry like a pancake/crêpe. If she can eat eggs, that'll help a lot.

*lol* She'll eat eggs and scallops but that's about it. No fish or other seafood.
She (obviously) has a really hard time finding sources of protein in general. She is not overweight, but is trying to hit around 1500 calories/day. She's lost around 6 pounds in the last 6 weeks and looks really good to me. I'll tell her about the besan, sounds like that'll be a big help.Originally Posted by Built
