    diet help please

hello all, i have a friend that weighs in at about 330 pounds and desperately needs/wants to lose weight. He was in a really bad car wreck several years ago, that crushed his feet and kneecaps and tore up his shoulders pretty bad as well. he asked me for help on setting up a diet and im not sure where or how to begin. he cant do much, if anything, for aerobic exercise. It would have to be strictly diet so i know it will be slow. basicly i need to an idea on how many calories he should take in on a givin day and what balance. ive never had to worry about these things for myself because i have a very high metabolism rate and i dont count my calories very close just make sure get a good balance and plenty of protein. anyway any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Otherwise tracking intake and weight is the way to go. Please don't start thinking cut fat and cut carbs....

Actually, for an obese person, cutting carbs may very well be the easiest and most comfortable solution. Get him tracking on fitday though - no matter what he does, he'll need to know how to manipulate and track his diet or he won't be able to keep off whatever he loses.
